Engro Collaborates with partners to skill up Girls in Daharki and Karachi through the USAID Funded Pathways to Success Project

Under the umbrella of USAID funded “Pathways to Success” Project, Engro Foundation has joined hands with Indus Resource Centre (IRC), Technical Training College (TTC), Injaz Pakistan and Memon Industrial and Technical Institute to train and empower 1500+ adolescent girls from Karachi and Ghotki.

Under Component 1, vocational trainings for 210 (5 trades) young girls have commenced at Technical Training College. This is the first time that TTC has opened its doors for girls’ trainings, and is receiving great deal of appreciation from the communities. Trades being hosted by TTC are Early Childhood Education, MS Office & Administration and Indus Bits (Web Designing).

In addition, a training centre has also been established at Mirpur Mathelo by IRC where trainings for beautician and artisans trades have commenced from mid-July.

Under Component 2, 22 girls from Karachi have been trained by Injaz Pakistan in entrepreneurship and handed over start-up kits for setting up small scale businesses in their respective communities. Further, 40 girls from Ghotki shall also be identified and trained in entrepreneurship after completion of their vocational training.
Under Component 3, Indus Resource Centre will train 1,200 girls for job readiness in Ghotki and Karachi, with a 50/50 split between both geographies.

Engro Foundation is seeking volunteers from the industry and academia to hold mentorship sessions with beneficiaries (Component 1 and 3) on topics like career counseling, gender rights, workplace readiness, financial literacy and economic empowerment. Come join us in the wind of change, Pathways to Success!
