Employment Generation Through Social Enterprises

Employment Generation Through Social Enterprises

Through a unique program implemented at the Technical Training College (TTC) in Daharki, Engro Foundation introduced young vocational trainees to an entrepreneurship module for the purpose of furthering job creation. This has been followed by the development of an incubation park, where select graduates will have the opportunity to put their learning into practice by creating a business in the trades of carpentry and UPS repair.

Engro Foundation also intends to explore other avenues of job creation via investing in entrepreneurs with existing businesses, creating Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that feed into our value chains, and supporting micro enterprises so as to further employment generation in Ghotki district, an area identified by USAID as Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) due to its geographic proximity with Southern Punjab. Ghotki houses a rural population of approximately 1 million persons, with just 3% skilled labor.
